PCB Piezotronics supports design, research, and development efforts with precision accelerometers for the measurement of vibration, shock, acceleration, and motion.

PCB® provides ICP® (IEPE), PE, MEMS, and capacitance sensing technologies to satisfy these various measurement requirements.

PCB's acquisition of Endevco's test and measurement product line means all Endevco accelerometers are now backed by PCB's Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) guarantee.

Key Features of PCB Accelerometers

PCB's accelerometers are trusted by experts for their high-quality components and feature:

  • Wide Dynamic Measurement Ranges from 1 mcg to 200,000 g
  • Wide Frequency Response from 0 to 60 kHz
  • Temperatures from -400° to 1400° F (-240° to 760° C)
  • Consistent, repeatable results

Our calibration centers are accredited to ISO 17025, and each sensor shipped includes a calibration certificate traceable to NIST. Platinum Stock Sensors ship fast and are backed by a lifetime warranty — if you are not 100% satisfied, simply send them back.

Accelerometer Technology

The most commonly used technology is our proprietary integrated circuit piezoelectric, ICP® (IEPE) accelerometers, which require constant current power supply. Most data acquisition, digital control, and portable data systems provide ICP® sensor power. Each directional axis measured requires one channel of the data system or signal conditioner.

Charge mode output accelerometers use piezo-ceramic sensing elements that output an electrostatic charge signal proportional to the applied acceleration. Charge mode accelerometers can be used at much higher temperatures, up to 1200 °F (649 °C) for HT models, because they do not contain the built-in signal conditioning electronics.

MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) applies to any sensor manufactured using microelectronic fabrication techniques. These techniques create mechanical sensing structures of microscopic size, typically on silicon. When coupled with microelectronic circuits, MEMS sensors can be used to measure physical parameters such as acceleration. Unlike ICP® sensors, MEMS sensors measure frequencies down to 0 Hz (static or DC acceleration).

Single-axis and three-axis (triaxial) accelerometer configurations include specifications on sensitivity, temperature, frequency response, amplitude response, form factor, and ground isolation options.
